Susan McCain hails from the Midwest. After receiving a BA in music from the University of Iowa, she taught vocal music in grades 1-12 for a short time. After a graduate teaching assistantship led to an MA in Piano and Piano Pedagogy, she taught elementary school music in a Chicago suburban school system until after she was married. Then homemaking, raising three daughters, traveling with her husband, golfing and volunteer work occupied her time. She was involved with the suburban chapters of Lyric Opera Guild of Chicago and The Chicago Art Institute, AAUW, Hinsdale Cotillion, treasurer of The Anglican Shop, several positions in her church and teaching piano. Her long-time association (33 years) as a monitor and reader for the Chicago Studio of Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic,Inc. continues into the present time as an at-home reader. Susan continues her interest in music with membership in Music Makers, which is a piano duet group, the Savannah Skylarks and her association with I Cantori. Susan and Bill stay entertained by visits from their three daughters, sons-in-law and five grandchildren.
