George Longstreth has been a life-long choral singer with great joy and heart. Never having had any formal training, he has been involved in Choirs, Glee Clubs, Octets in school, folk music/guitar/banjo/harmonica, hoot-nannies in college, and Church choirs since the early 70’s. He has sung with the Berkshire Choral Festival for the last 18 years, serving on their Board for 12 of those years, with 20 repertoires with as many different Conductors. In Savannah he was recruited by Peggy Breese to sing with the now defunct Savannah Symphony Chorus, briefly with Peter Shannon’s Chorus. In 2008, Peggy Breese encouraged him to join I Cantori to perform Carmina Burana with the Hilton Head Symphony. He has been captivated by Bob Harris’s wide range of musical choices, his enthusiasm, and the easy professionalism he brings to the group as director. For George, I Cantori is a huge challenge, and a great time of joy.
