David Neches is a recent arrival to Savannah and is the music director for the Unitarian Universalist Church on Troup Square. He is active as a pianist, conductor, clinician and composer. A long-time educator, he spent many years as the lead elementary music teacher for Richmond County (Augusta) where he was several times selected as teacher of the year. In his role as a clinician he has conducted honor chorus groups in both Georgia and South Carolina and regularly presents workshops at conferences such Georgia Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association. His choral compositions are published by Carl Fisher and are performed by school and church groups across the country. Recently he was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts grant to compose and present a solo piano concert of American Folk Hymns and Spirituals.
