This is Alexa Schlimmer’s first year with I Cantori. She has appeared with numerous opera companies and symphony orchestras in the United States and abroad. Equally at home on the concert stage, Dr. Schlimmer has been a featured soloist at prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tulley Hall, Westminster Cathedral, Cadogan Hall and the Spoleto Festival. She is a past winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artists Competition. Dr. Schlimmer’s voice students have performed worldwide, at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Houston Grand Opera, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, the Tanglewood Festival, the Altenberg International Music Festival, and the London International Choral Festival. Her former student Rhiannon Gidden’s opera, Omar, opened the 2022 Spoleto Festival USA. Giddens is a two-time Grammy winner and a MacArthur Fellow.
