I Cantori, Savannah’s premier chamber choir, will present 18th Annual I-Cantori Christmas Concert - AN I CANTORI CHRISTMAS on December 2, 2008, at St Peter’s Episcopal Church on Skidaway Island and on December 4, 2008 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Abercorn and 34th. Both concerts start at 7:30 PM.
Founder and director, Robert Harris, will conduct the 33 singers in a varied program of Christmas music from two continents. Included will be the Spanish
Carols, Ya viene la vieja, and the beautiful Carol of the Birds, both arranged by Robert Shaw. Polish Christmas music includes the well known carols, Infant Holy, Infant Lowly and Lullay Lord Jesus. From California comes O Nata Lux, by California composer, Morten Lauridsen.
A special feature this year will be the outstanding vocal talent of the internationally recognized specialist in opera, oratorio and song cycles of Schubert, Brahms, Schumann and Beethoven, baritone Jason Nam. His area debut was in February 2008 as Barone in the Savannah Choral Society’s production of La Traviata. Jason will be featured in the exciting setting of four English carols arranged by Benjamin Britten entitled, Fantasia on Christmas Carols.
